International PhD program

Ph.D. in the Graduate Institute of Applied Science and Engineering (ASE)

To address the demands of technological advancement, ASE was founded in 2002 as a platform to unite five departments: Mathematics, Physics, Life Science, Electrical Engineering, and Computer Science and Information Engineering, within the College of Science and Engineering. The ASE offers a Ph.D. program for graduates of the aforementioned related departments. It brings together relevant equipment, faculty expertise, and research areas to make a greater contribution to technological advancement.

Currently, the five departments collectively have over 100 full-time faculty members. The primary objective is to leverage these resources and expertise to foster integrated and competitive research across five key areas: Biotechnology, Opto-Electronic Technology, Electronic System Engineering, Computer Engineering, and Scientific Computation. The Ph.D. program offers all courses and seminars in English, with scholarships available for international students. A distinctive aspect of the program is the flexibility it provides; students can select and specialize in a field aligned with their interests. Additionally, students have the opportunity to participate in industry-academic collaborations, gaining valuable hands-on experience during their time at Fu Jen Catholic University.

Ph.D. in Chemistry

The Department of Chemistry was founded in the year of 1963. The Department of Chemistry offers a complete program from a bachelor's degree to a doctoral degree. The doctoral program in Chemistry provides a full spectrum of fields, including organic, inorganic, physical, analytical, polymer, and biomedical subjects. However, the doctoral program in Biomedical Chemistry was founded only recently, and students are encouraged to choose professors from the School of Medicine of Fu Jen Catholic University as co-advisors. The Department of Chemistry is looking for students who are dedicated to research and show creative thinking in the laboratory. Currently, there are 17 full-time faculty members, and they are divided into the following five research sub-groups: three faculty members in polymer materials, five in organic chemistry, three in inorganic chemistry, three in analytical chemistry, and three in physical chemistry. All English lectures and seminars are provided for Ph.D. students, and scholarships are available for international students.

The department is focused on developing molecular materials, liquid crystals, organic solar energy materials, nano-composite materials, sulfur-containing derivatives, high-energy cyclopropene, peptide synthesis, coordination chemistry, electron-transfer in organometallic complexes, molecular magnets, micro-electrophoresis, highly-efficient lithium battery, chemical sensors, molecular clusters computation, electron-transfer computation, and metal-semiconductor composite materials.
